this form if you have never been a member
of IWOC or you are a lapsed member. SPECIAL
INSTRUCTIONS FOR LAPSED MEMBERS: If
you have ever belonged, write “lapsed
member” in the comments box along
with the year you last belonged. You
will be charged for the initiation fee,
but it will be rebated to you as soon
as we get the notification of your payment
and check our records for your previous
membership.

This
online form uses PayPal as a payment method. You do not need to
have a PayPal account. PayPal totals your fees and automatically
generates your online listing for you. It's much less work and
more accurate than using paper forms; however, you may still download
the paper forms, fill them out, and send them along with a check
to the IWOC office if you prefer. Click HERE to
use the paper forms instead.
Be
sure to choose the appropriate membership type:
- Professional
members get all benefits, including listings in print
and online directories.
- Senior
members get same benefits as professionals but must be
aged 62 or older.
- Associate members get
only contact information in print directory and no online directory
listing. They do get all other website benefits, including access
to the Writers’ Line (This membership is most appropriate for students and other people who are not
now writers but would like to be).
- Affiliate
members are not writers. They
are people who provide services to
writers, such as printers. They get
contact information listings in the
print directory.
Fill
out contact information and then select the categories under which
you wish to be listed.* Your first
five categories are free. After that, each category costs $10. You
may check as many as you like. Join a committee and you get to add another three
free categories after you get your first committee assignment.
In
the "Your Professional Profile" box, write a description
of your work. Do not exceed 35 words. (Check current members' profiles
if you're unclear on the concept.)
DO NOT CHECK THE “INCLUDE IN THE ONLINE DIRECTORY” BOX WHEN YOU FILL OUT THE FORM. AFTER YOU HAVE JOINED, YOU’LL GET A PASSWORD AND USER-NAME THAT WILL ENABLE YOU TO MODIFY YOUR LISTING. USE THOSE TO GO INTO THE MEMBERS-ONLY SECTION OF THE SITE, CLICK ON “CHANGE PROFILE,” AND CHECK THE BOX THEN.
Also,
don't forget to choose one or more IWOC committees that interest
you. IWOC is a volunteer organization. It gives you a lot, and
you need to give something back. When you are finished, you will
have an opportunity to review the cart and add/remove categories
before proceeding to the checkout. Click on the "Join IWOC" button
to proceed to checkout.
*Please note that there are two new categories this year: Gardening, general and Interior Design, general. Because of the quirks of our database, these are not listed in their correct alphabetical location. They are at the end of the categories list.
