Independent Writers of Chicago
Have you ever wanted to ask a literary agent what kinds of books she accepts, how she targets editors or publishers or what the agent-author relationship entails? And about social media: How important is having an Instagram account when seeking a publishing deal? You’ll have a chance to ask all these questions and many more when new IWOC member Lissa Woodson appears as the speaker at IWOC’s October meeting.
A dedicated literary agent who secured her first deal with Simon & Schuster almost 20 years ago, Lissa has since placed books with Macmillan, Harlequin and other publishing houses. Today, she “pays it forward” by helping authors polish their work for self-publication or a traditional publishing home.
Come to the October meeting with plenty of questions for Lissa and prepare to have your thirst for knowledge slaked by this veteran literary agent and publishing expert.
Networking begins at 5:00pm, followed by the program at 6:00pm.
